Does anyone here have any? I have R.A.(Rhumitoid Arthritis) and I tell ya some days it sucks the life right out of me.
Am I the only one here with an AutoImmune Disease? If not, what do you do for workouts, how long, and how often? And do you find that it improves your mobilty and energy?

Celiac's disease is considered an autoimmune disease, and there are some of us here (myself included) that have it. We have a thread (Gluten Free Girls and Guys), and I also have thyroid issues, too. Both the Celiac's and thyroid issues are relatively new to me (last year or so), so I am still experimenting with how to work around them.

I have found that I feel best when I eat more carbs. That's probably related to the Celiac's- without being able to have bread, pasta, etc. I just kind of gave them up and ate different things instead. However, since I've started including more complex carbs- potato, rice, gluten free pasta, etc. I've felt a lot more energetic.

I am currently training for a half marathon and find that when I eat more carbs my workouts are better, and I just feel better in general. I hope that helps... good luck to you! :flowerforyou:
  • I have Crohn's Disease(Autoimmune disease), Fibromyalgia, Undifferenciated Connective tissue disease w/ features of Lupus (Autoimmune disease). So yes, I feel your pain. I also have a blood clotting disorders Factor V Leiden, MTHFR, and Positive Lupus Anticoagulant that I have to take blood thinner injections for (Sodium injections basically). I also have a Human Growth Hormone defciency that I take an injection of HGH (a hormone injection).
  • ooohhhhhh...Fibromyalgia. That blows..so does Cron's disease...
it's good to know I'm not alone
  • Yes all of it does. And with no cure out there it doesn't make it any better on us.

I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and thyroid issues. It is really hard. Sometimes I dont even have the energy to do anything. I have been known to fall asleep in mid sentence (no joke). I too feel your pain. Lately I have been doing walking, swimming and wii fit. I do feel better and have a little more energy but I have to really push myself to do it. After I do it I feel better. But somedays I just cant. I hope this helps

I have MS, Multiple Sclerosis. I hurt pretty much every day in the legs and feet. . . makes exercising a bit more of a chore than it already is.
The things I pay attention to are:
    1. I really listen to my body when I exercise. I've learned what I can do and how much extra I can push.
    2. I make sure I ice/heat sore areas after working out. So far since I've started walking every day, I haven't had any serious, long term pains/injuries (knock on wood!)
3.The other thing I suggest is be consistent. I'd think, tho I don't know, that being off and on with exercising could create more unnecessary pains.
