The most difficult part of losing weight?

Hi there...
I'm new here and was wondering what, in your personal experience is the most dificult part on losing weight.
For me it comes to two things:
Taking the first step, beging to make the changes on eating and exercising habits.
Keep on going when I fail on some aspect (cheating) or don't seem to have lost as much as I have hoped.
What do you say?

keeping myself motivated is the toughest part for me. I'm really good about everything for a few days and then i screw up and after that i just feel like i shouldn't try. I'll eat something i know i shouldn't and then for the rest of the day i don't care anymore. It sucks.0

for me, the most difficult thing has been learning just how many calories are in my favorite foods & researching what i can eat instead! no more frozen cappuccinos for this girl0

I always find it difficult that i have to stop eating the foods that i love forever if i am going to keep the f-ing weight off for the long term. I simply have no self control over those foods so i can not have any. It is like an alcholic or drug addict i guess. I simply can not have foods that are salty snacks or fast food...
I will suceed this time as i think i finally get it!!0 -
marix27... Yep, keeping ourself motivated its not easy, more if we are losing weight slowly and it seems we are going nowhere (yep it sucks) . But it can be done, I hope this journal and this community can help me a bit.

The hardest part for me is the motivation especially during a plateau or after a gain. I kinda get in my own head and start to wonder why am I even doing this if its not working - is it worth all this effort to only lose a few pounds a month?
MFP has helped me deal with this - my "friends" are the best at snapping me out of a funk and focusing on the end reward instead of the little bumps along the way!! So far I have overcome several bumps since I have joined in January, and guess what I'm still going strong - almost 40 lbs lighter0 -
The hardest thing for me is keeping my mouth shut0

Hey,
I would have to say finally seeing the real you and the realization that you need to make the change, then taking that first step to ask for help and then making the changes in food and exercise that is healthy. Last thing to realize you are human and will fall but you just have to get back up and start again. God Bless, brenda0 -
This is a great question! For me the hardest part is realizing that there are small changes happening every time I take another step toward "fitness" and you can't always see those changes BUT a whole bunch of small changes looks like a big change over time. Anyone can do a marathon.... one step at a time.0

For me the most difficult aspect of losing weight is the repetition of having to keep record of EVERY THING. Get up, weigh myself - log what I weigh. If I want to eat something I have to measure what I'm cooking and weigh what I'm cooking - and then log every calorie that goes into my mouth. I go to exercise and have to track the miles, the steps, the minutes - and then log what I exercise. Lather, rinse, repeat. Every single day ...for the rest... of ...my ...life.
This is the daunting reality of what it means to be a fat person getting thin. I don't want to think about it because it makes me want to cry. I pray that there is a time in my life when I'll be able to eat like a regular person and not have to count everything.0
