Exercise with kids...

How do you guys exercise with kids? Normally, my daughter likes going to the gym with me, but is just NOT in the mood today. My next option would normally be the pool... but we checked and apparently "Animal House" is filming in there. She is kind of a girly girl, so she doesn't like to try to play sports... I have tried so hard for that one. Any fun ideas?

If it's not too hot out your way maybe you guys could just go for a good long walk. Burns tons of cals and is also fun and a good way to spend some quality time together talking and enjoying nature! I love to take walks with my kids and our dogs! Hope this helps.

How old is she? I guess that would influence my answer really! Also, whats the weather like? Do you want to be indoors or outside?

We go to the park and I will do whatever creative moves I can think of...pull ups on monkey bars, jump on/off platforms, races up/down the big sledding hill, etc, and we always take a walk around the pond on the trail. You could always go for a walk or bike ride together. If she's a little older and likes to shop you can clock some miles at the mall.

dancing, my daughter is a girlie girl, but she loves to dance! some community centers have zumba for kids. also the wii...tennis, bowling, boxing, is really great cardio and its not playing real sports, but you still get all the benefits of the workout. how about a nature hike? It doesn't cost anything, just taking a nice walk and maybe adding some spirits ("I'll race you to the 3rd tree") to increase the heart rate.
    hope that helps.

If she is only 5, I would say she doesn't get to decide if she is in the mood for going to the gym or not. :) What mom says goes.
Personally I get up before the hubby and my son are up to go, but I would take him with if childwatch were open that early. But for me "early" means 6:30 and for others "early" could mean 4:30... which i couldn't handle!

Also, unless you are looking for exercise for her too... stick her in front of a movie and go do a workout in your living room.

Wow! you have a few hours between when you put your kids to bed and when you go to bed?! I have usually 30 mins tops because my son is a natural night owl and since he was little has gone down between 9 and midnight. At 3 now he's usually down by about 10 or 10:30. And I try to be down by 11 or 11:30. But, the good news is he's not up until 7:30 or 8. He's up at 5 if I put him to sleep any earlier!

mine are varying ages but we all loved walking everywhere when we were on holiday clocking up almost 5miles a day which for the kids was alot
when were at home the kids love joining in on the wii fit especially things like hula hoop and step we compete for the highest scores they usually win but its fun and calories burned they will also try the exercise dvds i do
even helping with the tidying up is exercise so i guess it would depend what you both want to do or like

Me too!!! Ava has autism, so solid sleep is pretty hard to come by in this household.
