Hi all ,
I am 27 woman and just starting on the road from fat to fit I was aiming to exercise for a min of an hour a day but I have found out I have quite a few busy days ahead where free time is now used up I am still able to exercise every other day at least . How much exercise is needed at the start of getting fit per week or session ?
I will just add on the busy days I will be walking over an hour a day so I know I could add some pace to this but I don't know if that will really help .
Thanks in advance xx

30-45 minutes at least..but try for an hour(at least 4 days a week). That is definitely a good starting point. Are you going to be doing just cardio or cardio and weights??0

Walking is a great exercise so don't discount it especially if you up the pace a little. Even if you manage to fit 20 mins a day it is something and much better than doing nothing.0

I'm not an expert on anything, but I've read that an hour of target heart range cardio will give you the most benefits. Anything beyond one hour and (for most people) the returns diminish. If you're not already using an HRM, you might want to invest in one to make sure you're using your hour wisely and getting an accurate calorie burn
On days that you have less time, anything over 25 minutes, will put you into the fat burning stage.
Of course, any exercise is better than none!
Good luck!0 -
When you're starting out I would aim at 3 challenging (for you) preferably including weights (be it body/free/or machines) workouts then try and do as much walking as you can every day...doh you got that covered... basically start slow and build up and try and include fun stuff, like sports or playing games, fell walking bike rides with friends skipping dancing you get the idea, start yourself on a fun new stress reducing lifestyle, not a gym rat drudge that you grow to hate, good luck0

This depends greatly on you fitness goals. If you want to run a marathon for example, you're going to have to put in a lot more work than someone who is just wanting a base line level of fitness. A base line level of fitness and good heart health requires roughly 3-5x weekly of cardiovascular work for 20-30 minutes. I would also recommend getting some resistance work in there as well.0

If you can split it up into two 15 minute walks a day on your busy days, even that will help. You don't have to commit to one hour a day every single day to get results, everything counts and adds up. You don't have to reach that "fat burning stage" on the heart rate monitor, walking 15 minutes here and there still burns calories.0

Thanks for replies all . When I do work out I normally try and hit gym so try running machine , bikes or cross trainer and some weights and then at home I will be starting the 30 day shred thing . Otherwise is just walking places .0
