hi all

I'm wondering if anyone else has the same problem. I drink coffee because I like it and it's low calorie, but I tend to over consume it and makes me feel tired.
Anyone have this problem? I'm going to stop drinking it around 11 am, then drink water, tea, Coconut water or Emergen C to help hydrate myself.
Any tips, suggestions (besides the obvious to quit it).
It's my only vice and don't wanna go cold turkey, I enjoy it (in moderation).
thx
M

It really depends on how much coffee you're drinking. If you're trying to scale back I dont recommend doing it cold turkey. Just remember, the caffeine in the coffee has been shown in several studies to assist in increasing your metabolism. Also, I'd suggest staying away from something sugary like coconut water. Too much sugar if you ask me!

I was drinking wayy too much coffee when I started MFP! xD
To reduce my calories in it, I switched to sugar free creamer
and started sleeping in later so I wouldn't drink an entire pot!
I can't put anything in it other than creamer so I just had to
reduce it to a cup or two. No more through the week, I
splurge in drinking it on the weekends.

For awhile, I drank too much. However, i didn't get tired, I got horrible acne (caffeine can cause inflammation in some people). I cut cold turkey, had severe headaches for about two days and then I was fine. I slowly reintroduced it because, like you, I love the flavor. Since caffeine was never part of why I drank it, I switched to decaffeinated (I'm aware these still a bitt of caffeine in there).

If you think the caffeine crash is making you tired, maybe decaf would work for you too.

Quitting coffee for two months had no effect on my weight-loss.

Edit: the caffeine doesn't cause acne but since it's an inflammatory, it can massively slow the healing process of any breakouts you might get. I had several on my cheeks and forehead that lasted for almost 2 months. It was my dermatologist that figured out what the issue was. Also, it won't have this affect on everyone but I was consuming 8 - 12 cups of strong coffee a day, way too much for my body to adequately process it.

I drink several cups of coffee every day, with Stevia and International Delight creamer ( currently white chocolate/macadamia). It doesn't make me tired. It keeps me from sleeping, to a certain extent, and I do have sleep deprivation problems anyway, but I just like the taste. Water is boring,I have to drink something else sometimes. I HATE milk or tea, and I'm limiting diet soda, which used to be the only thing I drank, to a couple of times a week..

I do drink AT LEAST one cup of coffee a day and sometimes two cups if I'm really dragging in the morning, but if I have more than two before lunch, I know I'm going to crash big time come 2-3pm.
