Hi everyone,
Don't you hate it when your metabolism screeches to a sudden halt? In the past, I was very active and stayed slim no matter how much I ate. Somehow, I've managed to put on about 50 lbs in 2 years, and I feel terrible both physically and emotionally. Recently, I attended a family reunion, took a good look at my big beautiful gene pool, and decided to fight mother nature via diet and exercise.
A few years ago I used a similar calorie-tracking system on my PC and lost about 15 lbs, but it was a PITA while working 12-hour shifts. I've put myfitnesspal onto my new android, and I'm ready to roll. So far I'm taking it slow, trying not to re-injure my knee or burn out... but I have an elliptical machine and some P90X DVDs.
I'm also trying to make permanent changes to my eating habits and routines, like taking a "nosy neighbor" walk/jog around the neighborhood a few times a week, and moving around as much as possible during lunch. I'm trying to keep some sort of nutritional bars on hand for quick breakfasts and non-existent lunch breaks so I don't binge later.
For now, my goal is to go from 180 to 145 lbs, wish me luck!

Goodluck! and my metabolism is sloth paced. Though I'm finding that I can kick it in the butt and it moves a bit faster sometimes.
