does high volume, slow weightlifting burn fat?

or do you have to take short rests and keep your heart rate up to burn fat while weightlifting? i usually take my time but get in good reps with lots of sets

Taking rests between sets is important to building muscle, and having more muscle generally helps you burn more fat.

The act of weight lifting itself doesn't burn as many calories as, say, sprinting down a treadmill, but the overall outcome will be fat loss.

heart rate has zero bearing on calories burned while lifting. ignore it..

exercise burns calories, not fat. fat is burned from diet. eat less than you expend and you lose mass.

everything about this question is too vague to draw helpful answers. what is a short rest? what are good reps? what are lots of sets? more importantly, what is your overall goal, specifically? i have a feeling you may be going about reaching your goals in a less than ideal way but i can't really comment without knowing what we're trying to do and how we're currently trying to get there.

^^ again. heart rate has zero bearing on calories burned. it's a useless number and not a gauge of intensity.
