Hello, my name is Gretchen. I lost 53 pounds on my own before my fitness pal. I would love to get to 160. I have about 35 pounds to go. I would really like some friends out there! To be honest, I am confused. What is TTEE? Also I am scared about eating my earned exercise calories.
I see so many different view points.
I walk every day, I walk a lot!!! and will start weight training soon. I do need to build strength. I am walking in my first half marathon in October so I am training for that!
I have been stuck at this weight for a long time but I am NOT giving up!! Any pointers? Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hope to be your friend,
Gretchen from Ohio

Weight training with cardio is an excellent way to lose weight. I'm in love with Jillian Michael's Body Revolution it's her 90 day program each workout is only 30 minutes. She combines cardio with weight training so you don't get bored. I was down 21lbs, not long after I finished my first round with this program. The weight has been creeping back on these last couple of months so I've decided to do it again. Mostly struggling with my diet at this point. It's hard to stay motivated in the summer with all the mini-vacations and bbq's. Feel free to add me.0

I think you probably mean TDEE, which is total daily energy expenditure
you can calulate yours here http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html. basically the "general" rule is to eat your TDEE -20% to lose weight. This number varies though so you might have to play with it. It's not an exact thing, it depends on your body type. Some people prefer to use thisover the built in reccomendation from MFP.
As for strength training, you have to mix it in with cardio if you want weight loss. Also, having protein (without fat) i.e. lean meats, protein shakes etc will help you burn fat instead of lose muscle after a workout.
Always eat breakfast within 30 mintues of waking up to kick start your metabolism.
Stay away from processed foods.
DRINK WATER (lots of it)
feel free to add me if you have more quesions0 -
Also with regards to eating back your exercise calories, there are fluctuating opinions on this. I think it depends on your body type. I usually eat back some but not all of my exercise calories and that works for me. Some people don't and some eat all of them back and that works for them. Honestly, you might have to play around with it a little. I would try eating back 30% of them to start and increase or decrease that number based on how it works for you
To be honest though, listen to your body. If you're really hungry, eat! preferably something healthy like fruits or veg, or nuts.
edited because I apparently can't spell "fruit"0 -
