Sodium question

I'm new at using fitness pal. I've done fairly well the last couple of days with keeping the food diary. I went over my sodium intake for today. How much does sodium play in weight loss?

doesn't matter unless you have high blood pressure. And it is the sodium/potassium balance.

it can mask fat loss on the scale due to water retention but it doesn't not hinder it.

If I feel I have too much sodium I just drink lots of water that day and the next to flush it out. You will retain water when you have too much sodium so BOTTOMS up with WATER YAAAY! :drinker:

Honestly, I lost 45 lbs and reached my goal weight without paying too much attention to sodium. I work full time with a commute to another city, so I don't have a lot of time to prepare fresh meals - therefore I do eat a lot of frozen meals & lunch meat, which are crazy high in sodium. I have heard for some people it can hinder weight loss, but for me it didn't at all.

In my opinion, since you're new to this, I would just stick with trying to stay in your calories, atleast until you're in a good habit about it, and then maybe work on meeting your macro's later.

But definitely drink a lot of water too!
