Almonds Bad Snack?

I have been snacking on things like

Almonds

Pretzels

Graham Crackers

.....are these like horrible to have? I can't think of healthier snack ideas.. I already have 2 1/2 cups of veggies in my diet along with 2 1/2 cups of fruit...so I can't have those

Almonds are great. They're a good source of calcium, protein and good fats. I'd skip the pretzel and graham cracker as my daily snacks... You could have a piece of cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, other nuts...

Almonds are healthier, but I suggest the unsalted kinds.

Agree with the above. Pretzels and crackers just seem to make me hungrier! Cottage cheese is a great suggestion, if you like it. Snacks with more protein in them are more satisfying.

As a snack all nuts at great, amazing source of vitamins and minerals, but if you are like me its very easy for you to over eat them. I love cashew nuts and could easily have a bag a sitting, but this is way over 400+ calories a bag, so becareful just how many you portion out.

Almonds are a really really good snack

Pretzels aren't as bad as other chips since they're baked so if it helps you not eat other foods then continue to snack on.

I eat almonds almost everyday. It is a great way to get in 'healthy fat' and if you eat them before a meal, they will make you feel full more quickly.

If you incorporate protein WITH the pretzels/graham crackers...then it's not that bad.

A small/half serving of pretzels with an ounce of cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.
A graham cracker "smudgie" (banana/peanut butter mixed together and spread on the graham.)

No foods are "bad" foods. You can incorporate anything and make it work for you.

I love almonds, they are filling and healthy. I just count out and bag up 25 or so and call that a serving. I also really really like to have 1 ounce portions of cheddar cheese.

They're fine to eat. Watch the serving sizes...also, you can eat more fruits or veggies. 5 a day is just a recommendation. If you want to have some carrot sticks with hummus or yogurt dip and you've already had your 2 1/2 cups go on and have them. Want some apple wedges with peanut butter? Why not?

Almonds are great, just watch portion sizes as they are calorie dense. If they fit into your calorie goal, go for it!

I'm a huge fan of nuts, particularly almonds, walnuts and pistachios. They can be a great way to get the calories you need after a workout without having to stuff your face. As a vegetarian, they are also one of the primary places that I get my dietary fat (and contrary to popular belief, fat in food can be a good thing).

Unsalted almonds are great as a snack! Though sparingly because they are high in calories and fat. However, the fat in them keeps you full and even just a few can give you a lot of energy. I'd say as a snack, 15 max is plenty :)

The pretzels and graham crackers, not so much.

Carrots or celery with hummus is another good healthy snack, 1/2 cup greek yogurt with 1/2 cup of berries, or an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter, just to give a couple suggestions.

    This ^^^^

Almonds are great!! Good choice. Just don't go crazy, use your scales to get correct calorie counts!

Yes unsalted are the ones to choose!

A snack I love that's quick and yummy is: wholegrain quinoa crispibread (like a low calorie cruskit) with either 1/2 or 1 tablespoon of all natural peanut butter or the same crispibread with avocado!!!

Or else I have a small 130g can of baked beans or a small handful of mixed nuts (almonds, cashews, Brazil nuts etc.) Yummm!

I also love Greek yoghurt with strawberries, blueberries, etc. (although at the moment I'm cutting down on dairy)

Or premade natural pancakes / piklets - 2 eggs + 1 banana in a blender (with added vanilla protein powder) and poor onto frying pan. Yumm!

almonds are excellent, but just make sure you eat in moderation. Remember to eat a protein with each snack/meal. Hard boiled eggs are good, cheese and a piece of fruit, cottage cheese mixed with yogurt is really good. Almonds with a piece of fruit is good. I try to stay away from crackers and pretzels because they processed. I try and save them for special days or once a week. Whole grains are good too, hummus, pita bread, bagels with cheese. Lots of options.
  • Almonds are an awesome snack. Nothing to worry about there :) Just eat them in moderation. A good portion would be 20 or so almonds.
