I woke up today and for the first time the scale said I gained weight. I have not exceeded more than 1300-1400 calories in over a month and I know in order to gain two pounds I would have to eat 7000 calories more than what I burn.
What could cause this? Water retention?
The only other thing I could think of is I have had a slight cold for the past two days but I don't know how that would affect my weight loss.

Sounds like it--more common in women than men but from what I've read, our weight can fluctuate up to 5 pounds in either direction on any given day according to how much fluid we're retaining.
Have you been drinking enough water? Keep an eye on your sodium, too. It shouldn't exceed 2200 a day for a healthy person.0 -
I ate a reccommended portion of Chinese food one time and gained 5 pounds!! it was gone the next day. :grumble:0

I know there are differing opinions on this, but whenever I'm retaining water or feel like I've gained a couple I'll do a shot of apple cider vinegar ( ) & the weight's usually gone the next day.
I dillute it w/a little water, plug my nose & shoot it! Then chase it with a large drink of water.
It's nasty, but it works. :happy:0 -
I donno...But you are doing so great, keep up the fantabulous work!!!0

It does work but OH MY GOSH!
I've done it a couple of times when nothing else seemed to work, and the only way I can get it down is to mix it with a a couple spoons of sugar-free Kool-Aide and some Splenda--and I can still taste it then. :sick:0 -

weight fluctuates all the time. water and food can cause it. For example weighing yourself AFTER eating a meal will cause you to "gain" weight. you need to weigh yourself once a week or less to avoid the stress of this. and always weigh yourself under the same conditions (ex- in your underwear first thing in the morning after using the washroom but before eating or drinking anything). Weighing yourself everyday or *gasp* several times a day can be very discouraging and should be avoided.0
