Hi There,
Im new to this website and a little bit confused.

I've entered my details online and am consciously watching what I eat at the moment, however I always 500+ calories left at the end of the day accord to MFP but I've usually gone over the sugar and protein content so im not sure what i'm meant to do? Do I eat more calories but then it will go over in protein and sugar - or are there any foods with no extra protein or sugar?

Hope someone can shed some advice, thank you.

What are you eating that's putting you over in your sugars?

Try adding a little fat in youe diet, that won't give you any sugar or protein.

your diary is locked so it's hard to see what substitutions you could make to fit your macros better.

ITS OK TO GO OVER IN PROTEIN! as for the sugar, i love sugar! i eat sugar, mines high, so i set mine manually. unless you have underlying health conditions, simple calorie in vs. calorie out should get your weight loss going, then just learn which different methods work best for you. trial and error, like tetris, to make it all "FIT"
  • Thank you so much for your replies.

I'm drinking 1 or 2 meal replacement shakes a day (which is where the sugar comes from) and plenty of salad and veggies with them and a salad as my main meal.

I know a lot of people don't agree with those types of drinks, but they work for me and are convenient.

VEGETABLES! I think that might be what you're missing. ;) I think it's better not to starve, so eat some calories. Some days I go over sugar and protien, and some days I am under.

Going over on protein is good, unless you have a kidney malfunction. MFP's level for protein is on the low side for most people's requirement so you could see it as a minimum.

If your sugars are coming from natural sources (fruit and vegetables) you don't need to worry about them unless you're a diabetic. Unfortunately, MFP doesn't help you track added processed sugars which are the ones to avoid, but lumps them in together with naturally occurring sugars. If you're not a diabetic why not track something else instead of sugar - like saturated fat, or fibre?
  • You guys are amazing, honestly I read your posts all the time and I think you're al fantastic! I hope in time to have a much better understanding of my food intake and what my body requires. I've finally decided to makes some changes, so fingers crossed the future holds as good results as a lot of you have had.
