Faffing about what exercise plan to do.

I need to stop faffing about researching and get on with doing something but I can't decide what. I have about ten pounds of fat to lose and need to firm up. I'm 5ft 7 weigh 149 pounds and a 48 year old female

Here's the choices.

Running with Body by you( You are your own gym) or Chalean Extreme
Jillian Michaels body revolution
Jillian Michaels 30 day slim down
JNL,Fusion

Can't get to gym to do heavy lifting and not got room for lots of equipment so can't do any c athe Friedrich stuff. I've tried Insanity but its too tough on my back. I don't like kickboxing stuff so not keen on Turbofire.

I am currently doing insanity and have just slightly above 2 weeks to go. I am also thinking of what next to do and I am definitely leaning towards Jillian's Body Revolution. This is mostly because it requires less time commitment. I am also looking at CLX and I am considering incorporating a few of the workouts into my routine while doing JMBR. I am trying to lose about 10 pounds and would be very interested in hearing what others think.

Try jillian Michaels 30 day shred - I didn't like level 1 as it was a bit dull and not enough ab work for the areas I want to tone but I really like level 2 - loads of toning exercise, great weights, and cardio and I can REALLY feel it! Only 30 minutes a day too including warm up and cool down. Free on YouTube. It's pretty challenging!

I have done 30ds found it a bit repetitive though. I like more variety.

YAYOG is well regarded and has a phone app too, it's on your list of choices........

..... plus it's progressive, which is important in a programme if you actually want to get results - doing the same thing over and over will lead to diminishing returns.....

ETA: stop faffing and start doing! Doing any of them will do something, but only if you actually start doing them!

insanity gave me lower back ache when i first started, which i put down to a weak core as it got better as the weeks went on!

That's interesting. I've got back problems from an old riding injury. Never thought of exercising making it better.

I know- I spend hours on this forum and on YouTube looking at programmes. Think how fit I'd be if I spent that time exercising.

The app is just for the original programme. I think I prefer Body by You as there are smaller progression steps. Shame as using the app would be great

I do YAYOG with running not Body By You. But in the ap, you can set your own program. You'd be able to use it with body by you. Because the program is progressive and I'm not watching the same dvd all the time I don't get bored. I had about 20lbs to lose total (baby weight) and the running did that (20 miles a week, 4 days with one long run) but YAYOG is making everything tighter.

I found the videos on YouTube. I'm not sure what workout to do when though. I found the level 1 and level 2 workout. I also found a schedule but it seems to have the workouts labeled by the day (ex. day1). Could you give me any insight? Thanks.

Didnt think if that. Could use the YAYOG with the BBY programme.

I just did the evaluation for Body By You to see where I need to start- no surprises- nearly at the bottom! I'm going to call it T Rex level (huge creature, massive bodyweight, itty bitty arms- think Rex from Toy Story). Aching already, but feeling GOOD!
  • Write the four on a peice of paper then fold them up and put them in a bag.
Select one randomly an ddo that first, once you have completed the selected workout, randomly select a new one and so forth until the bag in empty :D

You do the jillian Michaels for 10 days at each level, ie L1 then L2 then L3. If you go to the Groups part of the community forums and search for JM30DS or type the whole thing in you'll get more insight there :) I'm enjoying it but doing it every other day, seeing some nice toning results and definite increase in my fitness levels (and flexibility). I add my own free weights and abs after I've finished the video before I cool down.
