I bought this stuff when it first came out..but true to form never stuck with it. I am now trying to actually reduce my calories as well as exercise (what a concept) but wondering if I should try Alli again? Is it working for anyone?

I haven't taken it, but I've heard that it can keep u on toilet if you're not careful about how much fat u intake! :) I'm curious though if it's working for ppl, I don't want to take diet pills, but I'm always curious :)

Oh, here's another good past post that talks about Alli as well as other pills and need/lack of need for them--

  • Okay here is a response that I had to copy and share for those of us that are considering ALLI...I think I got my answer.

Here is a quote from my cousin who tried it-She is very straight to the point
"I am fat and I like food. I am lazy and do not like to move any more than I have too. Therefore a pill is right for me. I bought Alli-loved the colors on the bottle. I took it and I ate a pesto bagel ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. Took my second one with my lovely dinner that was Long John Silvers. I began to feel like I needed to fart-so I did. Cheese Whizz came out my butt. That was not good. I just paid $60 for those pants. I ended up with a somewhat fierce stomachache cause I was afraid to fart. I decided to give it one more try. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and that ugly pill. My crap was very loose, and the color that the crayola company doesn't even use. I called in sick to work because the smell that came out of me was not something I wanted to share with my co workers. There wasn't a match big enough to get rid of that. I took another pill and had lunch. I had leftovers. Cheese Whizz again. I am proud to say that I am stain free and only get my Cheese Whizz in a can.
It makes a great gag gift for those you hate."

Sorry-she cleaned it up a bit.
She has gone from a size 32 to a size 14. Diet, exercise and no pill.

This is just my opinion, I havnt tried Alli or anything else. I think that EVERYONE should avoid pills when beginnign weight loss. You don't even know what you're cabable when you start out. If you are doing everything right and still struggling, well then it's time to see your doctor and consider some artificial help. I've found that I am more than capable of losing weight on my own, and think of all the money you save by avoiding all those expensive pills. That, and, well I'm proudly cheese whiz free. :flowerforyou:

  • I think your right...cheeze whiz doesnt sound so good..no matter how desperate I am. I am still training the brain. Eat less, move more. I guess I am still looking for the easy way out. Repeat after me...eat less move more. Damn! got to do the hard way:explode:

Actually, after the first month, I found following MFP guidelines to be about the easiest way I have EVER lost weight. It's like it can't be real! I eat pretty much what I want but now I want healthy stuff (crave banana smoothies!) instead of junk food AND I"m not starving either. Some days when I really exercise, I have over 3000 calories to eat! And, you can see by my ticker that I'm having success.

Yep, I think MFP is about the easiest weight loss "plan" (and you can't call it that really--it's just a way to log your food) there is out there!
  • I laughed so hard when I read that...the stomach ache becuase I was afraid to fart. HAHHAHA I got tears in my eyes:laugh: Anyhoo..looks like your doing things right. Congratulations on your hard work and you did it without the whiz...no really, great job!!!

I've been taking it for I guess almost a month now and my allowance on fat grams is 50. I don't usually exceed that except on the week-ends. Yes, if you eat something really fatty then it will give you a very short warning before it's time to go BUT I haven't had any stomach irritation or any other severe side effects from using it. I don't have a computer at home so logging my foods and checking my cals is a lot harder to do so I've actually enjoyed using it because just knowing what it COULD do to me, but being commited to taking it has kept me from over doing my fat intake. It is a healthy helper to losing weight provided you know your limits and don't think that you can still eat whatever you want just because it'll block the fat. And gas is not a problem for me because I go to the restroom anyway and if it turns out to be something else, then I'm already where I need to be
  • Doing awesome shorerider...truly inspiring. I am just not patient...want the weight off now. Oh and can I do without having to work at it?

I'm not patient either--which is way I am so dedicated to getting the weight off! I don't splurge, I don't do "free days," and I don't cheat. If I overeat at one meal, then I really cut back to like a salad for the next.

I exercise 6 days a week--either gym or riding my bike.

The only pills I take (other than my prescriptions for diabetes and blood pressure) are fiber pills. I simply don't eat enough vegis or bread to keep my fiber up where it needs to be, so I take fiber pills every day.

I don't want ANY setbacks at all because then that would slow my weight loss and I want it off now, too! In fact, last week I posted about how I feel like that now but know it will still take time.

No free ways to do it--sorry!

And, thanks for your kind words. :flowerforyou:

I lost 10 pounds but I think it was wast of money. I don't eat fatty food so it didn't help much and I probably lost the weight from a change in diet.
