Weight loss expectations?

Hello everyone! Hope you are well.

I am restarting my journey again and I am 5"3 and weigh 140lbs, I know that is really overweight for my height.

Since I am new to losing weight and heard that you lose a lot of weight in the beginning of a new lifestyle, how much weight should I expect to lose in the first month?

If I embark on a very intense exercise regime and eat well - Will I be able to go down a size and lose a considerable amount of inches on my stomach in a month?

Many thanks.

That is actually very close to "healthy" weight range so I would be aiming for a slower loss.

It's impossible to say. It can vary. Some people drop a bunch right away, others don't see a loss for a few weeks. Some even gain first, especially if adding in exercise which can cause some water retention muscles.

Keep in mind that you don't have a lot to lose, so it will likely be slower for you.

Also, the scale doesn't always show the whole story. There are a number of factors that can affect it. Pictures and measurements often show results when the scale doesn't. I don't put a whole lot of weight behind the scale number for this reason.

I'm not healthy by all means lol. I have like a 34 inch waist and that is terrible. Need to get rid of the beer belly!

Do you think I can lose 10lbs in a month and dress size?

    Is it possible? Yes.
Would it be easy? Maybe. Maybe not. Depends a lot on your diet and activity level.

But the real question is - is it sustainable? Often times the things we do to drop weight quickly make it very difficult to keep the weight off. Slow and steady is ideal to be healthy and to help keep it off.

    This. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Think about how long it has taken you to put on the weight.

In terms of weight loss, expect nothing and work hard for everything.
