Ladies who lift

Hi everyone,

I have been very consistent with weight lifting and cardio intervals since January. I am starting to get discouraged because my eyes are not seeing very much change. I am physically stronger, and the growth in the amount of weight I'm lifting is evident of that. My clothes fit better, and some are even falling off of me.

I am pear shaped and am plagued by that nasty cellulite on my lower half. I realize that I can't ever get rid of it, but I can reshape it. I am curious if there is anyone out there that was in or is in a similar situation with their body. How long did it take until you started to notice a difference in yourself?

I realize that everyone is different and that no two people will ever loose weight the same way. I guess I thought I would have seen drastic improvements since January.

Thank you!

Take photos now and again in a month, and again in another month.

It's a lot easier to see the differences in comparison photos than in the mirror.

Take pictures. You honestly won't be able to see it in the mirror, and sometimes you won't be able to see it in the pictures. If you post them, others will see things that are different that you won't (we're far too critical of ourselves). Also, I'd start measuring yourself too. And your clothes are falling off. Obviously something is changing. Keep up the good work!!

I'd suggest taking photos of yourself in a bathing suit or some other "revealing" clothing. YOU may not be seeing any changes, but if your clothes are falling off of you, then there have been changes!

Like you, I am also a pear shape with cellulite on the lower half. Just make sure your nutrition is on and the rest will come. I have lost inches in my hips/buttockial region; even though I don't see any change, the tape measure tells me there is change. My Dexa scan from Saturday definitely reinforced it, too.

    Keep up the great work!

Thanks everyone. I know that it's got to be working because my thighs no longer rub together. I just wish that I saw my thighs smaller! I have lost inches, I have been measuring. I guess that I'm tired of being patient and want them smaller NOW! I swear that most of my inches have been lost from my boobs lately :(

Honestly- it took my years of consistent, dedicated heavy lifting before I was able to reshape my body. That's the bad news. But, the good news is that it did pay off in the end. I took my body from pear shaped with wide hips and thighs, a tiny upper body, and lots of cellulite to a much more hourglass shape with narrower hips and thighs and a much broader back and shoulders.

How much weight do you have left to lose? If you are fairly close to your goal weight, it can sometimes be beneifical to work on a bulk cycle to pack on more muscle, and then go on a cut cycle. This will maximize your msucle gains and fat losses since your body is only working on doing one things at a time.

I am currently 166lbs at 5ft 8. My goal is 150lbs. When I started in 2010 I was 193lbs. I would always quit working out in the summer because my kids were younger and home from school. Now, I am at the gym at least 3 days a week. I have outgrown our weights at home by leaps and bounds.

I am smaller than I was before I got pregnant with my now 8 year old. I was 176 then.

I must keep reminding myself that I didn't get fat over night....
