How important are MFP's fat/ carb/ protein # goal's to you?

I notice that I usually do not get enough fat and sometimes proteins. The carbs I eat are in the form of whole foods (grains, fruits, etc). I usually get an abundance of these usually because of fruits. I get enough fiber, nutritionally I need to work on calcium, and I do get enough calories. I am wondering if anyone has opinions about the strict adherence to these goal numbers and their importance to a weight loss or healthy lifestyle..

I think it depends on what you goals are. For me, personally, I have a goal to increase my protein (as per nutritionist guidance). I am consistently under the MFP (<10%) and the nutritionist wants me to try to increase this to 12%, due to my high activity level. It took several weeks to decide this because we first evaluated if the low protein had any effect of me. On day I had <10% I would the next day I would over eat due to hungry. This was my bodies way of telling me I was not getting enough of something.

Remember everyone is different, so if you show no symptoms of issues, then don't worry. Always listen to your body

I disregard it and use a better method from the IIFYM Calculator. MFP is strictly for food tracking imo

I set custom macros based on IIFYM. The carbs were a bit too high and protein a bit too low for the type of exercise I do.

Personally I'd be most concerned about the low calcium. Your body must have a certain amount of calcium to function and if you don't consume it, it will leech if from your bones.

The same is true for protein in that if you don’t feed your body enough, it will get it from your muscles. How much you need may vary based on your activity level, but I’d at least try to hit the MFP default. If you do intense workouts, you could need more.

You don't have to obesess over then and meet them all exactly every day, but on average you need to feed your body what it needs.
