Not sure if this is a coincidence or...

I've lived almost my entire life in Tasmania, and the winters can be pretty brisk, but this year I am just not coping! I'm wearing thermals under my work uniform, long sleeved tops AND a jumper AND a down jacket, socks and ugg boots, and I'm freezing!
I just peeled off my jeans, thermal tights and ugg boots to get into bed and my feet were white and cold like ice. even when I'm up and moving about I'm still just so cold and miserable. I'm writing this on my phone, in bed, with only my one typing finger sticking out from under the doona and blanket, while clinging to a hot pack like its my last friend.

I guess I really did need that extra layer of fat!

One of the unfortunate side effects of weight loss. I'm so glad we are into summer so I have stopped being cold all the time. I was miserable at work this past winter. I would still rather be cold than fat!

I used to be that way and it turned out to be a B-12 deficiency. Once I started on B-12 monthly shots I no longer have that problem. Just a FYI.

Ugh, I have the same problem now. I am wearing a jacket in my office at work every day, and it is the middle of summer in Texas!!! But there are so many other perks to losing weight that i can't get too upset about this I guess!

    B12 eh?
I wonder if that's got something to do with it. I have been eating a fairly repetitive range of foods the last little while, out of laziness more than crazy-diet-ness.
off to google foods high in B12 now so I can see if I've been eating them!
  • When I'm in weight loss mode I'm cold.

When I'm on eating more I get hot. So, I'm sure your metabolic rate changes the way you feel temperature.

I used to be that way, even when I was chubby, but now I'm always roasting. I didn't get my heavy coat out last winter until we had daytime highs of 10*F. If it was above 40*F I was running outside in shorts. I've suddenly become very hardy.

For me, it got better over time. That first "skinny" winter, I was freezing all the time. But I am okay now. I certainly wouldn't want that layer of fat back!! :noway:

I would check out the B12, but another thing that might help is to spice up your foods. Some spices create a thermogenic effect on the body and increase your metabolism at the same time. Worth a try. Usually the first winter after weight loss is the worst . After that your body adjust somewhat.

Do you not have central heating in Tasmania?

I have one heat pump/air con for the whole house. it takes the chill off, but I'm an extreme temperature kind of person -I'm not warm unless the backs of my jeans are practically melting in front of a fire.

Just to give you a comedy visual, right now, in order to be warming overnight, I'm in bed in an orange long-sleeved top, navy blue thermal long johns, and pink wooly double-lined slipper socks with pompoms hanging off them. caught sight of myself in the mirror just now, and 'sexy and I know it' is now running through my head on repeat.

Oh, and I'm clutching a purple fuzzy electric heat pack shaped like a monsters face.
