I have run all my life and regardless of weight, unfortunately the knee and body soreness doesnt go away. Its part of running and my body always hurts the worse after jogging, even at my lightest weight.
Try stretching really good before and after, run on softer surfaces if you can and avoid hard tops, get some good shoes that are fit for your foot and running style, and I find it helps to ice my knees or sore areas immediately after running or that evening. It will help keep the swelling and soreness down. I do it even when I am not sore as preventive maintenance. Hope this helps!0 -
Most running injuries are caused by trying to do too much, too soon, too fast. If you're experiencing pain (rather than mild discomfort) that lasts more than a day or so try slowing down and running shorter distances. Your body takes a while to adapt.....give it time.
Something else you may want to consider is that weak hips and glutes often manifest themselves as knee pain. Check out some of the videos on Runnersworld.com

I'm very new to running - week 6 of the C25K program - and I was probably in my 220s when I started. I was getting a lot of shin pain and went to a running store to get properly fitted for shoes. They watch you walk/run and make suggestions on certain shoes. If you haven't done this, that might be one thing that could help you. It's made a tremendous difference to me. I"m actually starting to like this whole running thing :noway: It's still hard for me to believe.0
