"diet" crisps?

Hello everyone
My mum and me have been trying to eat better and lose some weight whilst doing it. When food shopping the other day, we bought some Velvet Crunch crisps, which apparently aren't "bad" for you (with only 81 cals and low fat!).
My question is... Are they still junk food? I'm trying to not eat "proper" junk food (i.e. takeaways, chocolate, etc..) but with these low calorie crisps, do they still count?
I'm guessing they are... I just would like to know other opinions of them
Thank you!

If your definition of junk food is highly processed, then yes. I'm also guessing very high sodium content.0

Hi
Velvet Crunch crisps are fine, and i also like square crisps, skips and quavers
I would never last if i decided to give up my crisps
Try to look at it as a lifestyle change and not a diet, it makes it so much easier and that way fit in your treats instead of cutting out all the things you enjoy
Good luck :flowerforyou:0 -
Just use them as a once in a while treat Id still class them as junk food though, but one packet isnt going to break you, however it may trigger a crisp craving! I just try to avoid foods like that, your body will thank you later0

I'd say they're a good treat substitute so you kick the crisps which are worse and eat these! I LOVE them they're like rice crackers so they're healthier than actual crisps so i'd say treat substitute for every now and then People say processed food is bad but if you think about it most food now seems processed, including those 'health' bars and so on
If crisps are your weakness i say just use these to ween yourself off them
I'm a sucker for cheese so i use babybels

Oh ok, thank you
I might treat myself today with my lunch :drinker:0 -
I love crisps but I just eat a lot less than I did before. Last night I had a packet of McCoys' but I haven't had one in about two weeks. I used to have the "healthy crisps" but then I thought I'd enjoy it more if I had the full fat ones but just had them less frequent.0

If you have to ask....
Yes, they're junk, even worse is that they're low fat. You should do a little research on the low fat thing before believing it makes something better.0 -
Why not substitute packet crisps for home made ones?
Make vegetable crisps, slice selection of veg (carrot, courgette, sweet potato, parsnip, beetroot etc.) thinly few sprays of fry light and bake them in the oven. Makes a lovely alternative. I don't eat crisps but do eat vegetable crisps now.0
