Hello! I'm nepenthy, and I'm a 19-year-old recovering anorexic, with depression, Asperger's, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. I've been in inpatient treatment since the 7th of August, but am slated to be discharged in the coming weeks. I'm currently spending a week at my father's.
I've never had any real interest in my health in the past, but I feel behooved to do something productive with myself in the long, long days of my life. I'm quite the shut-in when I'm at home, and life can pass very, very, very slowly indeed. I want to better myself. I want to pull myself together and out of this slump.
I'm looking for help maintaining my weight and achieving adequate nutrition. If anyone would like to support me, or would appreciate support from me, please add me! :3

hey chick, iv been there many times, currently maintaining a healthy weight but it takes time. find your self a hobbie so you can focus on something you are good at or maybe start a part time college course? it really helped me take the focus of my eating disorder. im currently studying sport and play roller derby, you have to stay fit and healthy for that! wishing you all the best

I hope your post is found by the many folks here in MFP that would be pleased to be in your support network. You are not alone. Many of us have a similar problems.
You are 19. I am 62. All I can tell you is that life gets better as you work on it. Sometimes it is two steps forward and one back, or even one step forward and two back, but cherish and nurture the forward steps. Don't let the backward ones win. There is no reason for them to do so. Life gets better if you decide to make it so.
Good for you for reaching out like this. We are all in your corner even if we are at "opposite ends of the spectrum" weight- or age-wise.
If by some chance your message is missed and you don't get many friend requests, a good way to find friends is to use the search function in the "Community" tab to look for folks who are talking about things you want to talk about. Then, once you have read their stuff, you can decide if you want to send them a friend request.
Best wishes to you!

Thank you! I hope that I manage to maintain my weight - it's difficult at times to eat, but I have encouragement from my family, and the lingering feeding-tube-of-Damocles is there as a stick when the carrot doesn't work.0

Do whatever medical or counseling supervisors you've been seeing realize that you are on this site?
I only ask because I've seen others develop even more obsessive habits by using calorie tracking methods rather than develop a healthy relationship with eating and their body image.
Either way, I hope you find the support you are looking for and are able to achieve/maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I (mostly) focus on health and nutrition using this site rather than scales. As your nutrition improves and you eat what you should be eating, and move like you should be moving, your body will figure out the weight. I have a few recovering girls on my friends list and I like to give honest advice and see how much MFP helps them! I might be harsh at times with my honesty (such as 'you need to eat more as you are damaging muscles... did you know your heart is a muscle?') but it's out of care. My aunt battled anorexia when she was young and she wasn't as lucky to get treatment soon enough, and is left with a bit of a permanent personality disorder... treatment she got back in the day included electric shock therapy - yes, that did actually exist - and I hate to watch any girls go through the disease alone without the right support.
You're heading in the right directionsmall steps will add up!
You aren't alone and you can beat this!0 -
Hello, nepenthy.
I'm Chanel, & I'm a 22 year-old with Borderline Personality Disorder & (trying to be) in recovery as well.
I was originally EDNOS at 16 & I relapsed at 18 at which point my diagnosis changed to Anorexia because at that point I met Anorexia's weight requirement for diagnosis.
I'm sure you know how that is.
I've had two kids & am trying to lose weight from my pregnancies the proper way without a second relapse. Admittedly, I'm not doing very well & am back in ED outpatient services.
Please feel free to add me if you'd like,
Chanel0
