struggling today

I have been doing my new lifestyle for almost a month now and today has been the hardest day. I guess it's because I had to fast for some blood work and drink some disgusting sugary drink to check my insulin. So I didn't eat till after 1pm. Not to mention my son has been a bit of a pill today. I'm just exhausted and I want a cheese burger and large fry with a dr. pepper. I'm sticking to my new eating habits though and I know I can make it through today.... maybe

EVERYONE has their "off days". You don't need the fast food- it sounds like you have been making GREAT choices- don't let one bad day turn that around!
I too hate the sugar syrup drink :(. Yuck! And blood work- double yuck!

This is how I handle that. I eat the burger, but I do it with an alternative. If you cannot make it at home (somehow they always manage to add like 500 calories at restaurants) then do the following:

-Cheeseburger (no top bun, extra veggies)
    -Sm. Fry
-Pick up a diet dr. pepper

Have a little walk when you get home.

Let's look how this compares (when I do this):
    - Wendy's Jr. Cheeseburger deluxe (no mayo, 1/2 bun) 240 vs. 350
    -Sm. Fry 220 vs. 500
-Diet dr. pepper 0 vs. 160

You saved 540 calories! You add a mile walk and you may shave 150-180 calories! Diets shouldn't suck. They should be a lifestyle. I know my lifestyle includes cheeseburgers. Heck, just had a great turkey burger for lunch today. Enjoy!

I think of it the same way ... its a lifestyle thing ... if you labelled many types of food as forbidden ... you will torture yourself ... just be moderate about it and watch out for your calories count ...

That was me yesterday, I was permanently hungry and tired. I went over my calorie goal by at least 500. Today I got up did 35 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of kettle bell and I feel fantastic. I knew exactly what my problem was: my net calorie was too low the day before. I am not a fast food person, but if you want the burger have a small one with small fries and small dr. pepper, then either go for a walk if you can later this evening, or be prepared to work hard tomorrow.

The important thing is not to give up. I know I will crave something and then it is all I can think about. I find if I just have alittle bit I am happy and don't blow it all. One day at a time. Good Luck, you can do this. It's a lifestyle change.

What he said! Have to change the mindset that food is bad. Just have to eat in moderation and maintain a calorie deficit...and if you don't, just log it anyway and eat at a deficit tomorrow! No need to beat yourself up if you do go over one day. You are worth the effort! You will be there and the time will pass either way. Good luck to you on your journey!

drink extra water. anytime you have to go long periods between meals make sure to get your water. it will help keeping you from overeating when you finally do sit down to some food.
