So I read that you don't burn calories on an elliptical?!?! I'm pretty sure I burn something! So what do you think is a better workout, regarding calories burned? Elliptical or treadmill(walking)

Are you kidding me?
It depends on how fast you're going/if you have an incline. I'd suggest buying a hrm and figuring it out for yourself0 -
Both burn calories. My trainer says you get a better workout on the treadmill. Because you have more control with speed, incline. Where with the other..you have to make sure to stay at the speed.
I do both0 -

I burn more on the elliptical than I do on the treadmill, for sure.
Get yourself an HRM.0 -

You will love it. It works your buns and thighs nicely!0 -
walking does nothing for exercise other then working your calves. you have to jog or walk up a steep incline to get any benefit from a treadmill unless you are obese ofcourse then everything is better then not.
Orbital/Elliptical/Cross Trainers are one of the best cardio machines working lower, upper and your cardiovascular all at the same time, nothing else compares not to mention far less impact on the joints. Mix that with biking and you have a awesome cardio workout.
Agree on the stair machines tho they are only good for the legs and heart not the upper body.0 -

I do both
he/she obviously has never used a computerised Cross Trainer, they have exactly the same controls. Cybex Cross Trainer and a Cybe Treadmill are identical other then Cross Trainer has Stride and Step Height which is the equivalent of Speed and Incline on the treadmill but you will burn atleast 30% more on the cross trainer unless you are jogging on the treadmill then it will be about the same.0 -
Any movement no matter the machine burns calories, how fast you makes a difference on how many. Anything burns calories. Typing on this computer is burning calories, but it isn't cardio. I think it is all a matter of preference. The following are things to take into account though:
Treadmill is really bad for your knees because it pulls your legs back. Always have at least a little incline to help, but if you have bad knees, stay away.
Elliptical is my machine of choice because it is no impact and much better for the knees. I like to go high on the level because it builds strength as well.
Stairmaster is a great machine. It is the best for lifting the butt, etc. I used to use it all the time, but again knees is a problem for this one.0 -

 That is so wrong..........
Walking uses you calves, quads, hamstrings, glutes and core and you use arms and shoulders for balance. If you're walking on a treadmill you can get some pretty impressive calorie burns using a steeper incline and walking, along with running, are the most natural forms of locomotion known to humanity.0
