birth control side effects

I have been on birth control (the pill) for 10 years and went off it last week. It was starting to really impact my mood and I am worried about long term side effects from being on it this long, so I figure now is as good as any to clean it out of my system.

Does anyone know what I may expect as far as changes in my body goes? I am thinking it could have an impact on all sorts of things... appetite/weight gain or loss, sleep, my skin, my mood, nutritional needs, etc.

Is there anything I should be changing to make this as easy as a transition as possible on my body?

thanks!!!!!

I went off the pill two years ago after being on it for almost 20 years and have had no ill side effects from going off of it and even if there were some the side effects from being ON it were far worse.

The only thing that has changed for me is my hormone levels.

I will be watching the responses, I decided just yesterday to go off them after using them for 15 years-with a couple year off to have and breastfeed my 2 children. I've been having headaches on a weekly basis and Dr. thought going off the pills was a good place to start looking for 'why.' I didn't consider what kind of impact it could have on my weight.

I left my fiance in a PMS rage, and I was only off it for 8 months...I don't take it to prevent babies, I take it to control my hormones
