Denny's Dinner Recommendations-please help

Tonight I am taking everyone to Denny's for my son's belated birthday dinner. Do you have any recommendations on good food choices? I tried looking at the menu and just got thoroughly lost! My favorite is the banana nut pancakes but I know they are not as healthy as they claim. I know they have a fit menu too but are there choices on the regular menu that are good as well, you just have to know what you are looking for?

I think their menu is online, with calories listed. We went there recently on vacation. I chose the grilled chicken sandwich with veggies. The tiny cupful of veggies was good, the sandwich was really boring. Wasn't any better than a grilled chicken sandwich at McDonalds or Wendys, but more expensive.

Okay guys, my son wants to go to Denny's for his birthday dinner. I don't have a choice on that one! LOL I think I am going to have the barbecued chicken dinner.

We go to Denny's a lot. I usually get the "name your own slam" with egg whites, chicken sausage patty, English muffin and fresh fruit. Comes in around 400 calories. Enjoy!

The tilapia ranchero looks good. Unless you have a medical condition that requires you to watch what you eat (besides being overweight, that doesn't count for one celebratory meal), I wouldn't worry about it too much. Did you look at their food calculator?

I think the tilapia looks good too and if I went ahead and just ate whatever I want, I would be even MORE lost on choices. LOL

Avoid the grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with fried mozzerella sticks and served with french fries. Who ever came up with that should be in prison.

The Tilapia is really good, but the sodium content is insane! I also love the Cali Jack Turkey burger, but it's around 650 calories and more insane sodium. Yeah, we go to Denny's a lot. My boyfriend loves their omelets.

They had it last time I was there a few years ago. It looks disgusting and unnecessary.

Don't discount burgers. A simple burger without cheese, bacon, or other high calorie/fat toppings is often much healthier than some of the poultry or even vegetarian options. Switch out fries for seasonal fruit or some vegetable dish, and only drink water and your meal won't top 700 calories!

I have an app on my phone called under 600 calories restaurants. I think it was 99 cents bandit has a ton of restaurants with meal options for under 600. Dennys is on there :) I use it pretty much every time I eat out.

Don't listen to this guy. lol They have a low calorie menu at the Denny's here in Texas, I think they should for you too. You should check it out. I love the low calorie breakfasts and whole wheat pancakes. Also they have the grilled chicken burger, instead of fries, you can try a lower calorie side. (Though I would go for french fries lol a little indulgence is never bad. ^_^

I agree with the others about the grand slam, if you make your own grand slam then you can have a healthier meal.

I went there for breakfast today, and didn't try being healthy at all. I ordered the "Apple crisp french toast"! Decadent and totally not healthy whatsoever. Usually I also order a side of pancake puppies to share with the table, but today I told myself the french toast was enough (I am so grateful I didn't order them, because I was STUFFED!)

By the way, just a heads up, I know that in Canada here you can get a free grand slam on your birthday!

I wanted the apple crisp french toast but then I wouldn't have been able to have my fudge brownie sundae!

Lol, it seems people are determined to read just the title and not bother to actually read through and realise you already had this meal.
