I'm new to this site, I have been a member for a while but haven't actually used it!
My problem is snacking and feeling peckish when I'm bored or fed up!
In need of some serious motivation!
Can anyone offer tips to help me combat snacking? I dont like eating veg unless its with my dinner so thats another problem for me!!

I just joined today and like you snacking is my problem try some pickles or beetroot it may help and has no calories.0 -
It may not be the answer you are looking for but I PRAY. All the time. And trust me, I want to eat all the time. Its the only thing that helps.
I have realized that I cant do this alone. Alone is what got me to 335 lbs. I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. One step a time.0 -
Pickles and Beetroot now that sounds YUK!! My snacks are usually an apple and a pear(I dont care what anyone says fruit is not filling) around 10am when I am bored at work and my tummy is thinking i need to snack I have a bag of snack-a-jacks(100cal) salt and vinegar flavour(all the rest taste like carboard you can actually taste the flavour and it gets rid of my crisp craving) If it is the chocolate you need for breakfast I used to have a coco rocks bar this is 100 calories and gives you a chocolate boost or another idea is the 2 fingered kitkat which is only 99 cal. You arent going to get rid of the cravings by eating vegs but if you allow your self a treat you have to make time to do exercises to counter balance it!0

Fruit is a big snack item for me. Strawberries and kiwi every evening. Afternoon snack is weight watchers biscuits or slices or krisprolls with light cream cheese. other time cadburys light chocolate mousse (60 cals) and it cures the chocolate craving. I also have 12 almonds every evening they are good for you. A fun size milky way when I am truly craving something that isn't good for me LOL. Maybe couple times a month I have just one. 70 cals for one small bar.0

FRUIT & VEG!
Tomatoes, cucumbers, things like this are practically calorie non-existent.
a raw tomato has great flavour on its own, and if you liek get a cucumber and sprinkle a little bit of salt on it after u cut it in half.0 -
Have you tried smoothies? You can try and sneak some veggies in there with some fruit, yogurt, etc.
Another option is yogurt with fruit. I really like greek yogurt because it is high in protein (fills me up!) and no fat. It is somewhat bitter tasting by itself so I combine it with fruit and granola.
Other snack options: apples with peanut butter, veggies (I know you don't like them..) but what if they were dipped in hummus? You could try crackers and hummus as well. If you are craving chocolate, I know there is sugar free chocolate pudding by Jello. I think they are fairly good. Or you could get some nutella and cut up some banana to dip that in. I think 1 tbsp is 100 calories, so you'll have to go easy on it!0 -
if you aren't really hungry - just bored - try sugarless gum. That's what I have when I want something sweet but I am not really hungry. Also when I am desparate for chocolate I eat something small like plain m & ms. I eat them one by one to make them last longer. good luck:)0

Hi!!! Are you from the UK? I am an absolute chocolate LOVER too! I physically sometimes think I can't get through the day without it. But I found that Alpen Light Chocolate and Fudge bars are a great way to satisfy that craving- they're soooooooooooooooo good! Something like 60 calories and 1 gram of fat per bar and they literally are just amazing! Also they have 5 grams of fibre per bar which is pretty high for a cereal bar. They also do chocolate orange flavour too. Just make sure you get the light one, the others are more fatty! Should be available in most supermarkets. Also weetabix oatybars are pretty good, 70 cals, 2 grams of fat and 6 grams of fibre. Give them a try, they are my absolute saviour I swear. xxx0

If you can get pure protein bars in your area they are good. i eat them when I don't feel like eating a regular meal because they are high in protein but they also make you feel full for a while.0

I can empathise, I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Insulin Resistance which make me crave crave crave all the bad things like chocolate, chips and soft drink ... all that sugary or carb stuff which is really really bad for someone with PCOS and IR. Some days i do a good job of ignoring it and then other days i just want to pig out on sugary foods or salt and vinegar chips/crisps. Coke is my worst habit/addiction. But i went off coca cola for a whole year once and didnt lose much weight and so thought well there is no point missing out on my only thing i really like if it makes little difference to how i look.0

I'm all for the produce section route, but if you are wanting chocolate, no veggie in the world is going to help with that :laugh:
I'm a chocoholic too - have you tried Fiber One bars? The Oats & Honey one is really great - like eating a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie, it's only like 140 calories and gives you a bunch of your daily fiber. If you really need a sweet treat like that, I recommend those.
I've also recently been making smoothies with light chocolate soy milk or almond milk and a frozen banana. Tastes sinful but is very healthy0 -
Hi Chocolate Monster, from another chocolate fiend - there's a few of us on here, either those how have managed to control their cravings, use tactics or are still struggling so you're not alone.
I'm one of those that goes through fazes of not being able to get through the day without substantial amount of chocolate and then can go week or two without needing it.
You need to find out what triggers your craving, whether theres a pattern i.e. certain times of the day - it helps to log everything you eat but also in a personal diary log your actual mood (as this will affect cravings).
I've been given some really good advise this week in ensuring I'm getting enough protein as this will help reduce cravings also nuts.
When I'm in control I will have a lot of fruit, will always have breakfast, mid morning snack ( choice of fruit salad, banana or yoghurt and a Penguin or Kitkat), lunch, mid afternoon snack (banana and yoghurt - esp if going to gym), dinner.
You need to find something that you will like but is also healthy substitute for chocolate, but don't cut it out of your life completely.
Drink plenty of water. Its all the usual stuff which you probably all ready know.

I am definately going to try the alpen bars and may try veg with some sort of dip(healthy dip!)

I'm doing well today, Banana at 10:30, sandwich and low fat crisps for lunch! not too bad!

PS a great low fat smoothie - chocolate strawberry mint. Blend strawberries, skimmed milk, 1tbs of cocoa powder and fresh mint leaves. Tastes just like mint chocolate - yummy0
