  • maybe you can walk in 5 minute increments, instead of worrying about distance, aim for time? sorry you are in pain :(

First of all my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry you have to go through that. I myself deal with arthritis in my feet, back and neck and have had 3 fractures in the last year. So I am no stranger to being miserable with pain all the time either.

I would say start with small goals and do what you can each day because each day is different. I am actually looking into water aerobics or water walking. I do have my own pool but because I live in Wisconsin the season is short. You would be suprised at how much longer you can exercise in water and how much better it feels. Is I possible for you to find a pool to do that?

I also have found yoga type exercises are better for me.

I hope this helps and I am interested to see what other responses you get from your question.

    Good Luck.
  • thx/i live in Wisconsin also! my schedule just dont allow to go to the wellness center for the pool/realistically although i definitely feel that is quite valuable. but the idea of small goals is an excellent one.

Me again. Im suprised you didn't get anymore responses since yesterday.

I was thinking about your question some more and remembered when I was working at a gym for a short time. I found out that using the ellipitical machine was ALOT easier on my joints than regular walking or walking on a treadmill. A friend of mine that is also on this site just had some ankle problems and her Dr. told her the same thing. Its a good cardio work out and burns twice as many calories.
