NSV - salad, w/NO DRESSING!

I ordered a turkey cobb salad, which I consider a cheat meal (bacon and blue cheese crumbles] The waitress accidentally brought me Caesar dressing instead of the balsamic vinaigrette that I had requested. So I just started eating the salad w/o dressing, and by the time she came back to check on me...I had decided that it was delicious without!

BABY STEPS! I don't think I've ever ate a salad w/o at least some vinegar and oil on it. The best part was that I actually enjoyed it and I saved calories by not using dressing!

yeah its really not that bad! I've done it hear lately, don't get me wrong I still use my fat-free dressings but when there's none I like (like at work) I don't mind not using any at all. Also I once read that Victoria Beckham was at a restaurant eating a plate full of lettuce, nothing on it just lettuce. Not that I want to look like VB but hey it kinda dinged in my head that you have to eat skinny to be skinny.

The amount of bacon and blue cheese you usually get isn't all that much. Foods like that add so much flavor and satisfaction to a meal that they are often worth the caloric cost.

Culver's (a fast food chain) does a cranberry bacon blue, grilled chicken salad that is actually excellent, even without dressing.

I always get a bowl of lemons and squeeze the juice over my salad. That, to me, is so much better than dressing.

While waiting tables, I was often shocked at how many people use lemons or no dressing. I think it's time to join the no dressing revolution! Even people who ordered a completely fried meal sometimes don't use salad dressing. It's just one of those things that I never tried before. As for Victoria Beckham eating a plate of lettuce, I don't know if I am quite there yet. Gotta at least have some onion and tomato to add flavor.
  • Riche590, nice NSV! Every baby step that brings you closer to your goal is praise worthy! Some of you noted how you request lemons at restaurants as a dressing replacement, i'm going to have to try that! I'm going to need a few lemon halves though! :)
