Confused by cals help!

Hello just started here logged all my details and mfp has given me 1200 calories I am 22, 5 ft 4 inches and 15 st 7 lbs or 217 lbs does these calories sound right they seem low?? Thanks for any advice in advance

Basic calorie calculator puts you are a little over 2000 calories to maintain your weight if you sat on the couch all day. 2300 if you are lightly active. 1200 does seem pretty low. I would start with 1500 and see how you feel and work your way lower as you go.0

Yeah I agree too they seem low, if you wanted to find a rough guide if you go onto http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator it will calculate your bmr then you can use the Harris Benedict Equation to work out how many calories you need based on your daily activities then obviously to lose weight you need a calorie deficit of 3500 cals for every lb a week. It sounds really complicated but once you get it its an easy way to do it, I have noticed mfp seems to tell most people to eat 1200. Hope this helps0
