If you got your goal from Myfitnesspal you should be eating back those calories that you burn exercising. Your weight loss deficit has already been taken to give you the 1600. You're giving your body around 400 calories to do everything it needs to do.0

Are you saying that you burn 1200 of the 1600 calories you eat everyday, and netting only 400? Or that you are netting 1600? Your diary is closed, so its hard to tell... Netting 400 is NOT enough.0

^^^THIS.
Netting between 1200 and 1600 would be the plan, closer to 1500-1600 would be ideal!!0 -
You're a man who is only trying to lose 20ish lbs so you really need more calories. Eat back your exercise calories (at least most of them).0
-
Adult human beings need AT LEAST 800 net calories per day to maintain normal brain function. Anything after that is used to maintain your body, which is also a necessary thing, but please if you are going to continue with such a low number at least do not go under 800/day.0

Agreed. Eat more or exercise less.0 -

Dude, I'm a guy as well and I'm aiming to net between 2000 and 2200 calories a day. I've been pretty good and I am loosing between 500g and 1kg a week when I do this.
1600 is very likely too low for you, if it's 1600 gross and you're burning 1200+ a day, you definitely need to eat me.0 -
Yes.
not helpful but true.0 -

you sure about that 800net calorie statement? I'd like to see an article.0 -
I wonder how you are not feeling ill with eating so little (for the amount you do). I would probably be close to fainting if not already
I hope you start eating more. I do feel you're eating too little.0 -

If you have to ask, you're probably not eating enough0

Lower your target to 0.5 kg/week. If all you did was lie in bed 24 hrs, you'd burn about 1200 cals. Normal daily routine runs that up to about 2000/day. If you burn off about 500/day with focused exercise, and stick to a 2000/day meal plan, you'll lose that 0.5 kg/week. No focused exercise, limit cals to 1500/day. Adjust cals needed to your age, weight, and activity level. Cheat occasionally.
So, if you're eating less than about 1500 cals/day, then yes, you're eating too little for healthy weight loss, unless you're nearly bedridden, which you clearly aren't.0
