How to log SUP?

I'm going to take a SUP class tomorrow and would like to start doing it on a regular but I don't know what to log it as either on MFP or FitBit. Can anyone suggest a comparable activity I might be able to use? I don't have a HRM and I don't know how my Flex is going to log it. I'm a big girl so using averages to just guess the number of calories burned doesn't really work for me. Thanks for the help!

It's fairly similar to surfing as I have worn my HRM for both. Usually 60 mins for me will burn about 800 cals it's good effort. So if you are paddling constantly that is a good gauge. I have a very low resting heart rate, so you will likely burn more than that. Have fun out there!0

Thanks. I've never been surfing either. This should be interesting! I can't wait.0 -
Well holy heck that was hard. Awesome but hard. I logged it as surfing but it only gave me 340 cals on fmp and 232 on fitbit. I'm more exhausted than I have been in a long time even on gym days when I pushing myself so I think those numbers are low, but I don't really know so I'll just leave it. I'm wiped.0

That is way too low of a read. MFP and others are typically off. Only an HRM will give you an accurate read. Glad you had fun and yes its an amazing workout and I am guessing you burned 2-3x that number for sure!0

I really need to invest in a HRM. I opted for the fitbit, but I think I really wanted a HRMI hope the burn was higher because I had a lovely pad thai for dinner and a few beers. I didn't go that far over, but being under would have been better, ha ha. Thanks!
