Hello all!
I am 26, living in Canada, about 160 pounds and wanting to reach a target of 135 pounds - this has been a target for 3 years now and I am fed up with half of my wardrobe (actually more like 80% of it) not fitting and not wanting to buy new clothes! I am a compulsive eater and use food to make me feel better at moments of stress and anxiety - particularly late at night after a stressful day - and am trying to overcome that... If I can learn how to live without being compulsive and getting out of the cycle of making me feel bad about myself then I will feel like I have truly succeeded - even if I lose no weight! Wondering if websites like these will make me more obsessive about what I eat...? And more importantly, I am wondering if I will be able to stick with it and input everything I eat even if I overeat one day...? Is it frustrating that not everything is in the database and sometimes you have no clue if what you post on there reflects what you actually ate? Hmmmm.... Going to give it a try!

Hi,
don't worry. . .
I haven't been exactly exact with all my recording and I've still reached my goal. There are other internet sources for calorie content of food. If you google "how many calories in (put your food here)" something almost always comes up.
There's also a great "recipe calculator" at sparkpeople.com that will help if you like to cook.
The best advice I can give you is be honest with yourself with your recording. I find that sometimes I'll think "oh, I don't need to add this, right?" but then I do.
I allow myself one unrecorded treat a week, but that's just what works for me.:flowerforyou:0 -
Hi Canada!
I was a compulsive eater, mainly over stress. I also stopped using food as a source of celebration: drinks for success or stress relief on the weekend, dinner for anniversaries, bbq's with friends. I focused more on the people and not the food and did other activiites instead. When I feel stressed now I start doing housework, exercise or if I must shove something in my mouth, I eat baby carrots or make a hot cup of tea and try to relax instead. I have found that after several months of practicing this, food isn't such an answer or issue for everything. Good luck on your journey, because that is exactly what it is, a long learning road.0 -
Toronto here as well. Its true the database can use some work, but I make up for it. When I grocery shop, I add the foods in I eat and share for the rest. If I eat out somewhere or can't get the nutritional info, I google search or think of a place that makes a similar product.0

Yay Canada! I am a Vancouverite but I am living in Australia these days.
Good luck- I find that I do get a bit obsessive about what I am putting in my body, but it is a good thing for me. It just means I am still just as obsessive as before, only this time I am being compulsive about only putting good things in my body instead of just about anything I can get my hands on!0 -
I really just hope that one day I'll be one of those people who often says "no thanks, I am not hungry" when presented with yummy food and just to be able to listen to myself more.0
