This week I've been eating exactly the same as last week, when I lost almost 2 pounds and I haven't lost anything! I've gained almost two pounds as well. The only thing different this week is that I do a more intense cardio every other day. I'm really confused and upset because I'm on my last ten pounds and I have barely made any progress. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me, I'm scared this weight will never come off. (I've tried before on Weight Watchers)

You upped your intensity so your body is retaining water for repairs. Completely normal. Just keep going, it will even out!0

I agree with alypri. The last few lbs is the hardest to lose. What helped me break the plateau is Beachbody Shakeology. If you have the money get it. It works wonders and my recommendations are on the chocolate flavored one. Best of luck to you.0

Thanks for the tips. I've tried losing weight before and I couldn't get past my current weight, so I was getting a little freaked out. I'll try drinking more water I guess .0

Possible answers ....2 weeks is not enough data to pinpoint an exact cause
1. You had a higher sodium day before you weighed in .... could be water weight.
2. Weight loss will not be linear ..you may stall for a week or two and then drop weight the 3rd week. This happens because as you get closer to goal ... weight loss happens SLOWER. When you are within 10 pounds of goal .... expect 1/2 pound per week not 2.
Two pound per week is likely when you have much more weight to lose.
3. If you just started a diet ..... your body is still adjusting
4. TOM affects your weight also .... women have natural (cyclical) weight gains0 -
I see this all the time. You've increased your number of calories burned, without also increasing the number of calories you put in. I, too, am on my last five-ten lbs.
When our bodies are healthy, and we have too large of a calorie deficit, we don't lose weight- the large deficit makes the body think a famine is going on, and that it needs to hold on to every last bit of energy store that it can, instead of burning that energy store as fuel.
So what has to happen is a moderate calorie deficit. Not too large to make the body think it's in a famine, but just large enough to make it shed those last few 'vanity pounds.'
For me, this means making sure I eat between 300 and 500 calories less than I burn every day. So if I'm working hard one day, and I end up burning 2500 cals, I know I need to eat between 2000-2200. Any less than this number, and my body wants to hold on to that damn stomach fat instead of torching it.
Have a good Friday!
Ps- if you need some good TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) calculators, you can Google the term, or one that I find to be pretty thorough is at iifym.com/tdee-calculator0 -
keep in mind weight loss is not linear. There will be ups and downs. Look at the trend over time. If your weight continues to rise then be concerned. One week can be due to a number of issues...TOM, water retention, etc.0

Yeah.....you don't need to do this.0 -
You can't make an assessment by one week's progress or lack thereof. Stick with the program. Do it for a month. If the trend is generally favorable, you're doing well.0

Also, the last 10 Lbs is tough sledding...you're going to have to toughen up a bit.0 -
salt salt and more salt..remember...what u did to get you this level WILL NOT GET YOU TO THE NEXT LEVEL... this is something they never teach you...you have to do completely different things for the last 10 15..lbs

It took me about a year to drop the last 10lbs. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but better than the 10lbs coming off was the FAT I lost during that time. If you're not taking measurements along with weighing, start now. During that year I dropped at least one full size and lost many inches, while the scale slowly crept down, and honestly, the inches are way more exciting than what the scale says.
Eat well - a small deficit when you're this close is best. Drink plenty of water, exercise, get good sleep. And be patient - it will happen.0
