The life cycle of "can't eat all my calories"

Before MFP

high-protein-diet.jpg

"I don't care how may calories is in it, I'm already fat. Sure i'll have two extra value meals supersized, there's no point"

First month of MFP

woman-not-happy-dieting.jpg

"Zomg i'm so full from these veggies! Now that I'm aware of how much I WAS eating, i'm scared to put anything in my mouth so it's hard to reach 1200 calories"

Once the changes start to stick

om-nom-nom.jpg

"om nom nom, Y u no eat your calories?" ie "i can't live of lettuce forever, i've learned to burn more energy, i have increased my metabolism, and i move more so my body lets me eat more" edited to add : "the increased mucsle has blocked the memory receptor that remembers relearning to eat and struggling to make 1200 calories"

This is just in response to the 15th "how can you not eat 1200 calories" thread. I see it on both sides. I'm still very proccupied with food, but i understand the need for balance. I went through a long time when i had to try to reach my macros, and i should really be exercisising more and eating more, but i do what i can.

besides i felt like googling people eating.

I was actually making fun of people who make fun of people who aren't as awesome as them.

I don't get why the "pros" don't get why the "noobs" can't reach their calroie requirements.

I love it. I'm also someone who can't eat all her calories though, to be honest, because I'm just full... well, most days. But when I'm hungry, I eat.

I recently saw a post, and I apologize I do not remember the original poster, that explained noob's not eating all their calories. Suddenly it made so much sense!

In the old days I would eat a hamburger and large fries - 1600 calories, currently my daily allotment - for lunch. It was approximately 2 cups volume.
Now I eat a salad consisting of 2 cups of mixed greens and spinach, half a tomato, 1 oz of cheese, 1T sliced almonds, and 1T dressing and it's about 150 calories.

We used to eat calorie rich, nutrient deficient foods, it took more to fill us up. Now we are eating lower calorie, nutrient dense foods and we struggle to eat them all. People are always carrying on about how you can eat so much more when it is healthy food. But if you are not used to that volume, you are going to struggle to eat all your calories.
