Amp up my energy and workout?

So at the beginning of my weight loss journey/healthy eating, (january 2013) I took Slim Quick and then I also took Hydroxycut Pro-Clinical. I didn't use them to bump up my weight loss but to give me more energy to get through my workouts and have energy during the day. Is there anyone out there that uses ANYTHING supplement wise to help them with energy, fat burn/loss, etc that could give me some advice on choosing the right one? I am 25 years old 5'7" and fluctuating between 142-144 recently. Ideally I would only like to lose another 4 or 5 pounds, so really just toning up and cleaning up my eating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance!

    Hi!

My favorite (and perhaps only) supplement is, wait for it...

whole, unprocessed foods and grains (or little processed). It is great before a hard workout. For example, I drink 200mL of low fat milk with chocolate, whole wheat bread with some butter (I can't find peanut butter here in my town) and fiber rich cereal.

Since I'm trying to shed excess body-fat, I limit my consumption to maximum 400 K Cal in each meal, give it or take it.

If you can, I urge you to buy a book called Sports Nutrition Guidebook by Nancy Clark. She explains masterfully why whole grains are the cheapest, safest and healthiest bet.

Rich Rydin and Dave Maurice wrote in a column in Hardgainer magazine: "(...) try to get fat on whole grains."

    Good luck!
