Best way to head off a cold?

I have the scratchy throat, am feeling the lungs bristle, little bit of nausea starting - what's the best way to nip it in the bud? I know about Vit C - what else works FAST?

(i know this isn't 'fun' or 'chit chat', sorry)

Drink water. If you have a juicer, drink carrot juice with a little daikon radish (3/1 in favor of the carrots), Eat kale and collard greens and other veggies in that family. Rest and don't stress out. Stay away from sugar -- when I don't eat sugar and do eat leafy greens and a better diet, I never get sick. Hope you feel better!

Editing to add you can gargle with hot salt water for the sore throat.

The only thing that works for me is vitamin c tablets as you have said.

    Hope you feel better soon.

I usually get a large bottle of Green Goodness and drink the whole thing. Full of fluids and vitamins (including Vitamin C).

All of the above plus a bath as hot as you can handle, and a meal as spicy/garlicky as you can handle.

i just make hot soups. Chunkier the better, lots of liquid and add lots of Cayenne pepper. And i take extra multivitamins.

Agree with others that said drink lots of water, orange juice, other fluids will work.

You may want to purchase Mucinex D (get it from the pharmacy counter). That stuff works fabulous! Take only one pill and that lasts 24 hours. You will feel better in a few days.

Make a tea with Bragg's apple cider vinegar (regular ACV will work too)- just 5-15 ml (1 to 3 tsp) in a mug of hot water. You can add a little honey (or other sweetener) and cinnamon to make it palatable. OR you can get yourself some oil of oregano at your local healthfood/alternative therapy store and mix 2-4 drops with a few ounces of juice and swig it down quickly 2-3 times a day. It tastes foul, but it's great as a natural antibiotic. Lots of garlic and onions will help too! Hope you feel better soon!
