waking up starving

Every night for the past week I have been waking up around 2 or 3am feeling starved. Full on stomach cramps, out of my mind HUNGRY! Has anyone else had this feeling? I'm eating well during the day, so I don't know what the change is.

How many calories in a day? What do you eat for dinner and when? Maybe try eating something high fiber and/or relatively high fat shortly before bed (doesn't need to be tons of calories - just enough to keep you satiated through the night). Alternatively, keep a "safe" snack by your bed to satisfy the hunger pangs - a couple crackers and cheese or PB or some air popped popcorn (be certain to count the snack against your daily calorie budget, of course)0

I've been waking up around 2am STARVING. Not full on cramps but hungry enough to wake me up out of a dead sleep. I drink water to calm me and go back to sleep. When I'm up again around 7am I am just as hungry so I grab a glass of skim milk to drink while I get breakfast made for myself and my kids. I say keep water by your side to help you feel full0

How much are you eating during the day? If you aren't eating enough, or not eating the right foods (filling up on protein, healthy fats, fibre, water, etc) than you will probably wake up hungry.
Try having a protein rich snack before bed. Yogurt, cottage cheese, a few slices of meat, etc.0 -
When I eat a really early supper I'm often really hungry by bed time. Sometimes I will grab a handful of blueberries or grapes and a full glass of water. If I wake up hungry I drink more water. It seems to help.0

I was hungry at night at first, but now It seems to have stopped. Maybe if you modify your night time food, to keep you going for longer??!?0

I say a big glass of water before bed (helps you feel full...I keep a glass by the bed with a straw).
Also, I was told cottage cheese has casein protein, the slower digesting protein, and it should help prevent this problem. If you like it, I'd recommend 1/2 cup before you go to bed at night.
Have you started lifting? That could be the source of your added hunger.0 -
Are you eating artificial sugars with your dinner/dessert/coffee/tea/soda etc? They make me starved out of my brain after a few hours! They are appetite stimulating. Eat clean for dinner and have a big drink of water or herbal tea when your starved. I wouldn't eat or you might get into a habit of waking for food. I'm sure this wont last forever!0
