"Recovering" Bulimic...having throat problems?

So I've been bulimic for a little over 1.5 years. I have tried to recover before, but now I'm getting serious about it. I never started to notice actual physical problems until about December. For example, I can no longer sing and my voice gets tired quickly.
It's been several days since my last purge, and my throat is sore. It feels really swollen all the time. I keep choking when I eat. I was having a carrot yesterday and I almost thought someone would need to give me the Heimlich. I tried to drink water today and ended up choking and coughing it out of my lungs.
Food keeps coming back up...I just keep burping really small burps and then it all comes into my throat...sometimes into my mouth and i have to go to the bathroom and rinse my mouth out (yuck).
It's like I've lost control of my throat....
Why is the happening? I had fewer of these symptoms when I was actually purging...and it's only been a few days since I've stopped and it's gotten nothing but worse. WHY? How do I fix this?

You seriously need to talk to a doctor about these issues and get some mental health help to overcome the Bulimia... Good luck to you!0

^ You definitely need to talk to your doctor. If your doctor is not versed in eating disorders- get a referral- and you may want to see an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist in any case for the esophageal issues that you're referring to. Remember, it is hard, and it can be embarrassing, but they are there to help you! Be honest, and let them help you.
Good for you for getting serious about recovery- it's a long road but it's worth it!0 -

Absolutely this. Do not seek advice for this on MFP or any other internet forum.0 -
It's a problem I think a lot of us have, from the scratches on our throat due to purging
Might as well talk to your doctor about it.
I get sore throats a lot and lose my voice rather quickly.0 -
See a doctor, a therapist who specializes in eating disorders and a nutritionist. It takes a team approach to combat bulimia. It's wonderful that you are working so hard to quit. that's half the battle. Now you need help for the other half.0
