bread and rice choices

Hi, I was curious what bread and rice options are out there for someone losing weight. I do most of my shopping at Costco or the local supermarket. Any specific brands or types of things I should look for in bread and rice when buying? Thanks :)

Ezeikiel Bread, it's high in micros. I stick with plain ole Natures Own though lol. Cheaper and less cals.

I eat white rice, I hate brown.

Brown rice is best. I like Lundbergh's. Costco has some great Oatnut bread and also the 100 calories flatbreads. I restrict bread to 2 slices a day. I don't eat rice at all.

whole grains are more satisfying than processed white and are much better for you too - so i go for multigrain breads and brown basmati rice and wholewheat pasta. I can't really tell you which brands because the brands we get here in the uk are different from what is available in America.

I would say, go for the ones you like and enjoy eating. Avoid the ones that you are intolerant/allergic to, or don't make you feel good, or that you don't really enjoy, or that will trigger you to eat too much of them. Otherwise, none are really "good" or "bad", it depends on how they fit into your overall diet. Brown/wholewheat varieties tend to be better for fibre and micronutrient content (but can be higher in calories) but if you don't enjoy those, then white isn't "bad".

basmati rice is the slowest to convert to sugar and has the lowest GI rating, brown basmati is only a little better (brown rice takes so long to cook!) Also, I often swap rice for quinoa since it is a complete protein, it cooks the same as rice and tastes very similar.

for breads I look for lower carbs, higher fiber and protein and no corn syrup/sugar. I love Trader Joes 100 calorie flat breads and multi grain British muffins. I have not been to cosco but hear they have a very nice selection of healthier products.
