    One of my ancestors was kicked out of Canada by the British and ended up in Louisiana. I know that was several hundred years ago, but...can I still have the day off?

    My paternal grandmother was Acadian French. Her ancestors were in Cape Breton Island probably at the same time as dirty's but signed an oath of loyalty to the British crown and thus avoided expulsion. The "Cajun" of Louisiana is, I believe, just a contraction of the word "Acadian."

    Due to the specialness of this day, I would like to give my thanks to Canada. I traveled to you when I was 18 and you let me have my first legal 'adult' beverage. Tonight I will celebrate by imbibing a White Russian, the same as that day.
