Hi all,
Although I know that you can't just lose weight over night, but wouldn't that be wonderful???
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or recommendations on food/exercise etc that gets fast results?
I'm off on holiday in 5 weeks so I know I won't have the dream beach body I desire but would like to make the best of the 5 weeks I have to prepare to get some pretty speedy results if anyone has any tips they wish to share.

Many thanks

    Eat in a caloric deficit
  • I eat 1200 cals a day and my heart rate monitor on some days states I have burned 500 cals but still the scales aren't budging :-(

To lose faster, step up whatever you've been doing. Eat a little less, exercise a little more. And watch your sodium to prevent bloating, especially just before and while on holiday.

How sure are you of those calories burned? What type of exercise are doing? Are you staying in the aerobic zone?
  • I do insanity in the mornings which says it burns anywhere from 250 -350 cals and I usually do 30 mins of running which I mix between a steady pace some days and then Fartlek training others which usually gives me a reading of 300 cals burnt.

How about slow weight loss for life?

Look for a Protein Sparing Modified Fast. It's basically a low-fat, low-carb diet. You probably won't want to stay on it for more than a couple of weeks.

Great idea for the long haul, but there is nothing wrong or unhealthy about wanting to step it up a bit before a holiday.

It just sounds like the recipe for yo yo dieting. The slow weight loss could start now and a couple pounds could come off and then maybe next holiday she's at goal and won't need a 'quick fix' again.

I have been losing weight for 12 months but it would be nice to try new things and hear different ideas especially when I have a particular goal in mind!

Do you eat 1200 net or total? That seems very low for Insanity. I would not suggest eating less with those workouts, even short term.

Eating 1200 calories a day, Doing Insanity, and probably not eating back exercise calories = no progress.. 5 weeks of doing the same won't change that.

I would recommend strength training with a certified trainer. Add that to your daily cardio you will see the most changes in body shape. Maybe not weight loss but you probably care more about appearance anyway.

Change it up a litlle give your body something new and interesting, sometimes your body can get use to you calories in/out what exercise etc.

Like other have said presuming you dont eat your caloires back 1200 is no where near enough, your body will be holding on to a little bit of the calories to try and keep you alive, this may sound strange but up your calories to you TDEE -20% or just above you BRM.

Exactly. Seeing some progress might be motivating. There's nothing wrong with keying an effort to a specific event so long as you keep your perspective and determine to learn something while you're doing it.
