Fitness Assessment?

I have a fitness assessment this Friday for a new training facility. They do a consultation which includes BF% and nutrition, etc. They said they will do a fitness assessment in order to see my level and approve me for certain training groups. Anyone completed an assessment before that wants to share their experience? I figure I will be running, pushups, etc, but I could be way off base here. Looking for some insight.

Depends where you go.
If you go to one of the large chain gyms, they'll probably give you some sort of VO2 test so they can tell you how poorly you performed, and how you need personal training and a HR monitor.
A independent trainer will probably put you through a Functional Movement Screen, or something similar to check for imbalances in your body.
I would skeptical of any trainer that puts you through the old phy ed push-up, sit-up, and run test you did back in grade school.0 -

I would say this is more independent. They do say it will have a "Functional Movement Screen, BF%, cardio capacity, measurements, blood pressure and muscular endurance, etc."
Just trying to figure out what the cardio capacity and muscular endurance may entail. Thanks for the input.0 -
Probably a step test test for your cardio...maybe a wingate test, they probably won't have the equipment to give you an actually VO2 test. Probably, push-ups for muscular endurance. Hard to say though.0

I had a fitness assessment when I started a kickboxing class at a Korean Martial Arts Institute. The goal of the assessment was for them to gauge my fitness level compared to where I could be, and they also asked me my personal goals at the end of the assessment. They asked me to do everything that they did during the class but for half the time that the class would be. The entire assessment took about a half hour. First I ran (jogged) around the mat for 1.5 minutes. Then I did jumping jacks for 1.5 minutes. Next I did sit ups, push-ups, and other guided calisthenics. These were basically tabatas...as fast as I could for 30 seconds with a break between. The instructor had me stretch to check my flexibility. Then he had me put on 12 ounce gloves and practice punches and kicks to give me an idea of what the class would be like. The instructor assessed me as "good" on a scale from poor, to fair, to good, to fit. I was pleased. The goals included weight loss, fitness, core strength, and endurance, and he also asked how confident I feel about reaching my goals. Hope that helps!0
