Figuring calories to lose x pounds by x date

Here are a couple of sites that will help you figure out what your calorie/exercise routine needs to be like to attempt to lose a certain number of pounds by a certain date. It will also help you assess the reality of doing what you hope by a certain goal.
Go to http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html to calculate the number of days between two dates. (For example, it is 940 days until my 65th birthday)
Go to http://www.healthaliciousness.com/BMI-weight-loss-calculator.php and plug in your numbers. (For example, I want to be a healthy 140 pounds by my 65th birthday.)
You then get results of how many calories you need to "lose" every day -- or in more MFPish terms, how much below your TDEE you need to be. (For me, it's 433 calories/day.)
Then you can assess how realistic this is and whether you need to adjust your calorie intake up or down. (Right now I have my calories set at a TDEE-20% approximation which, as it turns out, is about a 470 calorie deficit per day so I am right on target.)
I think this will help with realistic long-term goal setting for some of us and will prevent at least me from fooling myself with unrealistic expectations.

Hey thanks for this info....I figured I would need to eat 1400 calories a day and burn 3250 to lose 20 pounds in 45 days. That is a reasonable goal. I already burn about 2500 a day and eat about 1600. I can do this for 45 days. Thank you0
