Gaining muscle weight

Hi!
I am gaining muscle weight. I know that this is a good thing. I started a month ago from very sedentary, I mean disabled, no job, 2-3 naps a day, no exercise at all, 2-3 hours at a desk was about all I could manage before needing a break...

Now I managed my first Fitbit 10000 steps yesterday, I am taking no naps, doing a few weight exercises, on a diet, off or getting off most of my meds. I am also sleeping much less. This is a very good thing!

My question is this. I have gained 2 pounds. Do I loose them on the 8 pounds that I have lost?

Not to be discouraging but it's more likely that you're body is retaining water. When you start a new exercise program your muscles stores water to help them recover. It's extremely hard for women to gain muscle and if you're not lifting heavy and in a calorie surplus you won't be gaining it. Lifting in a deficit is still great though because it helps maintain muscle mass while losing fat so win win :) just keep up with your exercise routine and the 'extra weight' will go soon.

The glycogen in your muscles is binding with water to promote muscle repair. Don't worry, it'll fluctuate and eventually come off. :) Your calorie deficit and getting moving is ample enough to help push you over the hump, just be patient. :)

ETA: The first 4-6 weeks of my journey, I roller coastered all over the scale, up 5 pounds, down 3, up 1, down 4, etc. It was crazy. But eventually it stabilizes...or at least doesn't fluctuate nearly as much! :)
