I'm trying to help my dad lose weight because he has been at a plateau for months! I told him to start counting his calories. He exercises 4 times a week by jogging on the treadmill for 2 miles and lifts weights. He is 5'3 and currently weighs 146 lbs. How much calories should he eat per day and what should his macros be?

How long has he been counting calories? If he's counting calories on a daily basis what are his current calories for the day? When I do peoples macros I looks at their body fat percentage their weight and height.

I've just started following the guidelines at http://thefitcoach.wordpress.com/2012/07/29/584/ . For him, that comes to 1900-2000 calories a day with 175-200g of protein, 125-175g of carbs and about 50 g of fat

It will be his first day today. He's never counted calories before.

I'd start at 2000 calories, since I am guessing he is pretty close to his goal weight. 40% protein, 35% carbs 25% fat. Adjust as needed from there.

This is assuming he is lifting heavy weights, doing something like Stronglifts or Starting Strength. Can you elaborate on the weights he is doing?
