First day with personal trainer - q about starting out

Hi there,
I am going from zero activity and I have quite a bit to lose (over 50 lbs). I just signed up with a personal trainer and I had my first session today, and she did a fitness test on me.
She is very good but I felt dizzy and nauseous, and had trouble walking down the stairs to my vehicle. But I can honestly say I've never sweated like that and right now I actually feel good, albeit weak.
I am scared I won't be able to do what she asks me to. I am SO out of shape, and I discovered I'm not very flexible either.
I just turned 40 so not sure if age is contributing either. I had 6 kids, 4 of which were in the last 5 years, so that doesn't help!
But I need her advice and guidance and I definitely want to continue.
Anyone else have this experience when they first started? (Scared to continue)

Don't give up! If you have a good trainer, then she will work with you to meet your goals. Tell her every time you feel dizzy, nauseous, sore, etc. Good trainers will modify any/everything to your needs - even on a per session basis. If you're concerned about the intensity, then just talk to her about it. Remember, you're doing this for you - and you're paying her.0

Yes, but I didn't have 4 kids in 5 years! If you feel dizzy, tell her. My trainer gets annoyed when I try to push through things. He feels it is better to train right and build up. Don't give up, you will love it soon!0

Yup, I also felt dizzy after my first session.
Plenty of fluids during and after will help with that, and make sure you tell your trainer next time too.
You are paying her to push you, encourage you and motivate you, but it's a two way process.

I felt the same way after my first training session - I had a hard time picking up my son that night! It was really rough.
I also was constantly scared of failing - that someday I wouldn't be able to do what he asked me to.
Well, guess what? the soreness got better, and I DID fail at times. But my trainer was good, and though he pressed my boundaries, he never took them too far. Now, two years later, when I fail at someone he ask me to do, it's because I'm so strong/balanced that he wants to try all kinds of fun things with me. and sometimes I can't do them; that's fine. We just move on to the next challenging thing.0 -
Talk to her when you go next, explain how you feel and I'm sure she will be understanding, it's so worth it in the end ????0

No reason to be scared at all.
My story is a lot like yours. I started with a personal trainer after a pretty serious illness so even though I had exercised regularly in the past, I hadn't in almost 5 mos, so I for me it was like starting all over.
I've experienced the dizzy/sick to my stomach feeling, too, once. When I didn't eat something before I met with her. And boy was she PI$$ED with me for that! I'd just started a new med that has to be taken on an empty stomach and didn't allow for that before our session. We did work out but not as strenuously as we usually did that day. She stressed to me about how important it is to eat something healthy before going. So usually it will be some toast and peanut butter, or my fav, apples and peanut butter. She's asked me to try a banana and peanut butter next and I'm going to. So, please eat a little something before going next time.
Also, don't be afraid to speak up. Your trainer won't know your limits if you don't say something. Trust me, she'll know when to push and when to back down. If she doesn't she's not a good trainer and you should say something to the gym (if she works for the gym) For me, something that makes my muscles shake but not "hurt" perse is good and I'll comment about that, she knows I'm working 100% and keeps me at that level. But if I get dizzy I definitely say something and she modifies what we're doing after I'm not dizzy.
