SURVIVING 4TH OF JULY...

Just some tips to help survive the 4th of July holiday and stick to your goals.Important things to keep in mind are portion sizes, lower-calorie options, and physical activity.

Portion Sizes
1.) Fill most of your plate with vegetables, and then take only taste-size-portions of high-calorie foods.
2.) Try to eat your holiday meal slowly so that you can really enjoy every bite...it will also help you resist the temptation to rush off for seconds!
3.) Save your calories for your favorite foods-dont fill up on foods you only kind of like.
4.) Avoid Buffets! If you dont have the choice, take only small amounts of food at a time so you dont get over full too quickly.

Physical Activity
1.) Go for pre- and post- 4th of july walk with your dog or a family memeber.
2.) If you know you have a holiday party or a big meal coming up, prepare for it that day by being as active as possible
3.) Exercise before you eat , it can help control your appetite.
4.) If youve had a big meal and feel too full, go for a long, slow walk to settle your stomach.
5.) Remember , you cant be too active this holiday :)

This isn't a bad list at all. Some good stuff to keep in mind on a regular basis. (Although if you've got room in your macros for seconds, I say go nuts!)

    And...

Never mix drinking and fireworks...unless someone walks up to you and says, "Here, hold my beer and watch this." Then, hold the beer and "watch this," take video, then come back here and tell us what happened.

All good things to keep in mind in general. But also...don't forget that it is one day of many. Just as one day of getting your nutrition on and your fitness on doesn't make you a healthy and fit individual...one day of getting your BBQ and beer on doesn't make you a mess.
