This is me at my highest weight (274) and my lowest weight (140). It took me two and a half years to lose the weight the long and hard way (the picture was taken later because even after I was done losing weight, my body was still shrinking and shifting). I stayed at 140 for a little over 2 years (when I was finally diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I started to take the synthroid and suddenly all kinds of things were changing. Before when I got hungry, I'd be like "Oh it's almost lunch time, I'll eat then" and things like that. But with my new medication, when I got hungry, I got nauseous. And if I ignored it, it turned into dizziness, headaches and one very cranky person.

I was diagnosed about 3 and 1/2 years ago now and I had gained back about 40 pounds (topping out at 181 lbs) in those years. It's been hard because I've been working out more than ever, eating better than ever and the pounds just kept piling back on slowly but surely.

I joined MyFitnessPal and began tracking my calories in addition to the workouts that I already do and FINALLY I can say I'm going the other way again. Today I weigh 168. I'm getting married September 13th and would love to be back to 140 by then, but I would settle for 150 or 155.

Thanks for listening!

Thank you all for the kind words and making me feel welcome. :)

    Here's how I did it:

I gave up sweets completely. They were my kryptonite. And I mean everything cake, cookies, candy, pop... even syrup and jelly.

I don't eat for at least three hours before I go to sleep.

I only drink skim milk and water.

I eat lots of fruits and veggies.

I only eat when I'm hungry. (Sometimes people think they're hungry when they're really just bored, thirsty, etc.)

Other than that, nothing is off limits.

I find if you make a diet too strict like "No chips, no pizza, no burgers", it just gets to be too much and I could never stick with it.

Sure, I eat those foods a lot less, but I don't deny myself them entirely.

If I really want pizza, I'll have it.

And I also started exercising. Originally I did 20 minutes a day, 7 days a week with my Gazelle Edge.

Now I use a set of high intensity interval training DVDs called "Bridalicious Bootcamp" lol.

Sometimes the struggle is a long one. During it we have all kinds of obstacles that we have to learn from. Just check off each thing you learn and keep going. Congrats on our upcoming marriage
