Body Confidence

This weekend I flew to Toronto to celebrate Pride weekend with my friends.

I wore shorts (I NEVER do that) and tiny summer dresses all weekend long and never had a single moment of body-hatred. When we were out dancing and some cutie grabbed me from behind to dance, in my brain I was like, "Go ahead, grab my hips" and I didn't bother worrying about sucking in my stomach. It felt so liberating to be able to just enjoy myself without harboring obsessive and self-loathing thoughts about my body.

When I looked at the pictures later I was like, "Oh yeah, that was tons of fun!" Instead of agonizing about how fat my arms looked or how chubby my face was or a million other negative thoughts I usually have when looking at pictures of myself.

Although I'm not at my goal weight yet, I am finally at a healthy BMI and, more importantly, finally beginning to have a healthy self-image. I feel like a new woman! I feel encouraged to keep eating well and exercising because, wow, the payoff is REALLY worth it!

Here are some pictures of me being silly, having fun, and not giving a @&^$! about what I look like.

    Congrats! This is awesome!

I am starting to feel like this. At a healthy BMI and wearing shorts...even shorter (not booty) shorts to the gym. Though I still have cellulite on the back of my legs, I am not letting that hinder me from LIFE. Seems silly...but it did.

Cheers to you and every single person out there that can relate. It is truly an amazing feeling to start LOVING your body instead of loathing it. :drinker:

I've been repeating this often "I love and appreciate my beautiful, healthy body." As cheesy as it may sound...I figure I've said enough hateful things repeatedly over time that why not at least TRY to be loving...and guess what, it's working!

    Rock on!!! \m/
