Any ideas for (preferably) high protein sides to be served with steak?

How about some beans for me some baked beans and steak is great. Also a potato with fat free sour cream chives and some bacon crumbles. Sorry watch out for that puddle of drool.

    Surf & Turf!!

Ding ding there's the winning answer right there. Although I think the fried egg runs a second close.

Gotta put my suggestion in though how about a scoop of cottage cheese?

As soon as I saw this child related to a food post I immediately thought of Momma BooBoo's spaghetti recipe......Ketchup mixed with melted butter atop a steaming pile of white pasta.

I make a delish creamed spinach that I think goes great with steak. Not exactly high protein but it's not bad.

    8 C fresh spinach
    1/4 med onion, chopped
    1 Tb olive oil
    2 clove garlic
2oz cream cheese (can use reduced fat, not sure how fat free would turn out)
    1/4 C milk (any kind)
EDITED - I forgot the seasonings since I was just going off my recipe builder! Salt and black pepper to taste, and a pinch of nutmeg.

Saute your garlic and onion in the olive oil til soft, add the seasonings, cream cheese and milk and let the cheese melt a bit, then add in the spinach and cook until the spinach is wilted and the cheese/milk is totally melted and slightly reduced.

Makes 4 servings (well, it's 4 skimpy servings; you'll probably want to eat 2). Using whole milk and neufchatel cheese (that's just what I had on hand), it's 90 calories, 7g fat, 1g fiber, 3g protein and 5g carbs. Wouldn't call it HIGH protein but it's tasty and not just pure carbs if that's what you're looking for.
